ADD is nie n siekte nie
Goeie dag
My naam is Millie,ek wil graag my storie veterl as n kind wat ADD gehad het.
Op die ouderdom van vyf jaar oud het my ma agter gekom daar is fout met my t.o. v. my konsentrasie. My ma het my gevra om vir haar goed in die kombuis te gaan haal en dit vir haar te bring, klink eenvoudig maar ek kon dit nie doen nie want ek het die heeltyd vergeet wat sy wou he.Ek kon net nie gefokus bly nie, terwyl my ma vir my wiskunde verduidelik het was my kop op n ander plek. Ek het gedink aan wat ek more gaan doen of met watter pop gaan ek hierna mee gaan speel of ek het stories in my kop op gemaak.

ADD stands for Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, although internationally ADHD is the referral term that includes both ADD and ADHD. ADD/ADHD is a term used to describe a group of children who have many problems in common.
We differentiate between three sub-types namely:

ADD/Hyperactivity is currently the most researched childhood condition, yet there is so much misunderstanding about it. Suggestions that their child may be affected by Attention Deficit Disorder or Hyperactivity, or worse the diagnosis of it, often leaves parents traumatized, guilt ridden, and angry that their child should be ‘stigmatised’!

Advice for parents of children with ADHD
Many ADD/ADHD children struggle to concentrate. They have learning disorders, their behaviour is atrocious and social skills often very poor. These children are always in trouble.
According to the medical world this is a psychiatric condition and therefore to be treated with medication.
